How to Choose a Wedding Supplier in the UAE Without Regret

Choosing a wedding supplier is a hard decision to reverse. Once the deposit is paid and the date is close, there is no time left to change course. This guide explains how to assess a supplier before signing, and which questions separate those who deliver from those who only show photographs.

Ask for work in your venue, or one like it

A beautiful photograph proves nothing on its own. What matters is seeing a delivery in a venue close to yours in its dimensions: ceiling height, stage width, and the nature of the existing lighting.

Ask specifically: have you worked in this venue before? A supplier who knows the venue knows its power runs, its door-opening times and its installation restrictions, and that saves hours on the night itself.

Be wary of photographs shot from very tight angles or with heavy colour treatment. A design photographed from one angle only usually looks different from every other angle your guests will see.

Read the quotation in detail, not in total

A good quotation states three things clearly: exactly what is included, installation and removal times, and who is responsible on the night. A quotation that says "complete kosha" without dimensions or a count of lighting pieces is open to interpretation.

Ask specifically what is not included. Costs that appear later — extra transport, installation hours outside the agreed window, a generator — are the leading cause of disputes after signing.

Compare offers on specification, not on the final figure. An offer a thousand dirhams cheaper with a kosha a metre and a half smaller is not cheaper; it is different.

Questions that reveal real readiness

Ask: who will be present on the night? The team you meet in the meeting is not always the team that delivers. Ask for the name and number of the field lead.

Ask: what happens if a component fails? A serious supplier carries spare lighting and sound parts in the vehicle, not a plan to call the office.

Ask: how many events do you have on the same day? A supplier delivering three events in one night splits the crew, and may leave nobody with you after installation.

Deposit and contract

Put the minimum in writing: dimensions, piece counts, arrival time, final handover time, and the responsible person's number. A verbal agreement is forgotten between booking and delivery, especially across months.

The usual market deposit runs between twenty-five and fifty percent. Full payment months in advance is not standard practice, and a supplier who asks for it deserves additional questions.

Agree in writing on the amendment policy: how many days before the date can you change the design or the guest count without a fee?

Signs that call for caution

A supplier who neither visits the venue nor asks for its measurements. One who gives a final price within minutes without asking about the space and the numbers. One who refuses to give a direct number for the field lead.

And finally: a supplier who agrees to everything without objection. A real expert objects sometimes — telling you this size does not suit the venue, or this timing is not realistic. Total agreement usually means the details have not been studied yet.
