What the service is

Organising a group iftar: preparing the venue — tent, hall, courtyard or office — the iftar tables or floor seating, the seating plan and serving route, dates, water and coffee at the call to prayer, and the meals. Packed fasting meals are available on request; their number, source and delivery are set in the quotation.

Maghrib time

Everything must be ready well before the call to prayer, and the time differs by a few minutes between cities — see the city section.

Numbers

They set the number of tables, the serving route and the service team.

Venue

A ready hall needs arranging only; open ground needs a tent, flooring and lighting.

Meal style

Buffet, plated or packed — each changes the layout and the serving route.

Weather

In the coming years Ramadan falls in the winter months, so evenings are usually mild, with a chance of wind or rain that we allow for in anchoring tents and their sides.

Working in Dubai

Our base is in Al Yarmook, Sharjah, and we serve Dubai; we confirm the arrival time when you call, according to the site. If the tent stands on public land or outside the property line, or meals will be handed out to the public, the requirements are checked with the site management and the competent authority before confirmation.

Dubai’s Maghrib time is the reference we compare the other cities against on these pages. We use the city’s official timetable to set the ready-by time.

In Dubai, the Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department lists an “iftar tent” service among its charity services online and announces iftar-meal distribution and Ramadan tent permits each season. For events that need a tent, the Department of Economy and Tourism lists a “temporary tent permit”. Who applies is agreed before confirmation; this does not mean a permit has been issued to us.
